Who is responsible
DutyTag is operated by Haseeb Sagheer, trading as DutyTag, who is the controller of your personal data. Contact: hello@dutytag.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you choose, your name and shop name.
- What you upload: product listings, descriptions, prices, countries of origin and the codes we suggest.
- Early access sign-ups: your email and where you sell.
- Billing: handled by Polar. We receive your plan, country and payment status, never your card details.
- Basic technical data: pages visited, browser type and errors, to keep the service working.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for (contract).
- To send account, alert and billing emails you need (contract).
- To prevent abuse and keep the service secure (legitimate interest).
- To improve classification accuracy using anonymised, aggregated results (legitimate interest).
- To email you about launch, only if you joined the early access list (consent; unsubscribe any time).
Who processes it for us
- Vercel (hosting)
- Supabase (database and login)
- Polar (payments, as merchant of record) and Stripe (card processing for Polar)
- Hostinger and Resend (email delivery)
- Our AI model provider (to classify product descriptions; not used to train their models)
Some of these providers process data outside the UK and EU. Where they do, they use standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep it
Account data and uploads are kept while your account is open and deleted within 30 days of you closing it. Early access emails are deleted when you unsubscribe or within 12 months of launch if you don't sign up. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent, by emailing hello@dutytag.com. If you are in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.
The DutyTag Chrome extension
The extension runs only on Etsy's Shop Manager listing pages and on dutytag.com/extension. It does nothing until you press its “Customs code” button. Then it reads the title, description, materials and price of the listing you have open, and sends only those to DutyTag to find the code and, on Seller plans, the duty. It does not read your orders, messages, customers or any other page, and it does not track your browsing.
It stores one thing in your browser: a sign-in token for your DutyTag account (and your chosen currency), which you can remove at any time with “Disconnect” in the extension or in Settings on dutytag.com. Data it sends is handled exactly as described above, is never sold, and is never used for advertising or credit decisions.

We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in and the service secure. We don't use advertising cookies.
